The Economy is Us
By Rick McCorkle
The
economy is like a plane in flight being kept up by the movement of air over its
wings. It’s kept up by all of us buying what we want and need when we want it
or need it. If we all stop buying things, then the movement and the lifting
force stops, and the plane goes down. The economy has gone down because we
don’t have confidence that we can continue to work and earn enough to pay for
the things we want and need.
We
don’t have confidence because America is being terribly mismanaged by Barack Obama
and the people he has placed in powerful positions to rule over us. Obama and
his czars don’t believe in the free market, but in a government controlled
economy, like the one that resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Never
has such an economy flourished since the beginning of time. Government control
always results in benefits for the few at the expense of the many. In truth, it’s
not about benefits at all, but about control. That tight control constricts
commerce and causes everyone to suffer but the privileged few who are looked
upon favorably by the liberal elite. Government intervention and control has
brought our great economy down, and Barack Obama is keeping it down.
When
we the people have confidence that we are free to take risks and reap rewards,
then we make investments and we buy things. This
causes the economy to grow. When the government hampers our efforts and takes
more of what we earn, we start thinking small and doing things on a smaller
scale because we fear that what we have will be drained away and we won’t be
able to replace it. This causes the economy to shrink.
If
we elect new leaders who believe in the free market that has made America the
most prosperous and generous nation on earth, then our confidence will be
renewed, and yes, we can regain our hope for the future. The economy is all of
us waking up and going to work every day to produce the best goods and services
we can in hopes that our fellow country men and women will buy them. It’s also all
of us buying the goods and services that our fellow country men and women are
producing. The economy reflects what all of us think and do, because the
economy is us.
We
shouldn’t be listening to politicians like Barack Obama who tell us that things
will get better if we do what they say and give them all the money they want.
We should rather be choosing leaders who will set us free to realize our
dreams. It’s time to rise up and take back our country and make it free again.
It belongs to us, not the government. Our leaders are hired by us to serve us,
not themselves. That’s what makes America work, but
it’s not working and will only get worse unless we put new people in charge who
believe in freedom, and in us.
